Health Data Notice

Effective September 13, 2026 · How LIFE1 protects health information, and why HIPAA does not apply

LIFE1 is a consumer wellness app, not a healthcare provider, health plan or clearinghouse. HIPAA therefore does not apply to the information you keep in LIFE1. This notice explains the protections we apply to your health information instead, and how they line up with Apple's rules for apps that use Apple Health.

1. Why this is not a HIPAA notice

The U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) governs "covered entities" such as doctors, hospitals and insurers and their business associates. LIFE1 is none of those. Information you enter in LIFE1, or that LIFE1 reads from Apple Health with your permission, is protected by consumer privacy law (PIPEDA and Quebec Law 25 in Canada, the CCPA/CPRA and other state laws in the United States, the LFPDPPP in Mexico, the GDPR in Europe) and by the commitments below, not by HIPAA. Statements elsewhere that LIFE1 is "HIPAA compliant" were removed on September 13, 2026.
